The Pigging principle

Many products are difficult to remove by water rinse alone, such as minced meat, liver pate and fruit concentrates. The principle of pigging is that a projectile (a so-called “pig”) is forced through a pipeline. Because the diameter of the pig is slightly larger than the inside diameter of the pipe, the pig forces the product through the pipe while the pipe is being cleaned.

We have specially designed our pigs to be hygienic, efficient and thorough. The Pigging system is ideal for product transfer, product collection and cleaning, collecting more than 99% of the product.

SteelXperts ApS pigs can easily move through bends and only need a low propulsion pressure. The pig propellant can be water, sterile air, nitrogen or the next product if there is a product change.

Traceable pigs

Our pigs are magnetic, making them traceable in pipes through the use of a specially designed pig detector. Because our pig detectors are mounted on the outside of the pipes, adding them to an existing pipe system is quick, easy and cost-effective.

In addition to being able to track the pigs, a tracking system will enable semi- or full automation of the system. This will provide a significant increase in efficiency, productivity and safety.
